03 · The checklist

What to do with the file.

  • Paste, don’t link. X’s intent URLs can’t carry images, so the card travels on the clipboard — copy it here, paste it into the composer.
  • Mind Facebook’s 8 MB. A 2× PNG of any preset lands far under it.
  • LinkedIn needs ≥ 1200×627. The link card preset clears the minimum; smaller images get rejected or cropped.
  • Pinterest cuts past 2:3. Taller pins get trimmed in the feed — the pin preset is exactly the ratio it documents.

The guide

Open Graph and social image sizes, by platform

  1. Step 1

Find your platform below. For a link preview anywhere, use 1200×630.

  2. Step 2

Pick that size preset in the card maker above.

  3. Step 3

Export PNG at 1×–3× or JPEG, and set it as your page's og:image.

The og:image is the picture shown when your link is shared. Use 1200×630 pixels — a 1.91:1 ratio — and it works for link previews on X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Slack and Discord.

The sizes below are taken from what each platform documents, not from figures copied between blog posts. They are the same presets the card maker above uses.
